Cellophane on your Famicom

I couldn't find anything on this topic so I thought this would make a good poll question.

Do you still have the original cellophane on your Famicom controller metal plates?  How about on the "Family Computer" plate on your system?

On some of them, yes. I also have the original clear plastic expansion port cover on some of my Sharp Twin systems; a part few people know about that ties somewhat into this topic.

An interresting poll you did here! I'm particulary curious about the "Neither, I took them off" answer. I always wanted to peel some of those off but I never did.

Thanks!  I have the cellophane on both controllers only.  It is in perfect condition on controller 2, but it is starting to crinkle and peel on controller 1.  I do get tempted to peel it off, but I don't want to risk scratching the metal plates.

I peeled it off my system I play with, which had the system plate only - but I have a new and unused famicom, so I voted with that

I don't like the protective film on anything I use.  People keep it on 'for protection' but it just looks perpetually shit and scruffy then.

If you're protecting it from scratches because they look ugly, doesn't that then defeat the whole point?
It amazes me when I see people with the film still on their phone, or plastic on their furniture because then that only gets dirty anyway and you're in exactly the same scenario!

I don't even have ANY film on my iPhone and it looks great.  Not one scratch, not any bit of dust and no bubbles.  It's liberating.

Go on, take that film off and live your lives!
(of course I'll keep the film on my new famicom, because I don't use it - I've never even taken it out of the wrapping, but that is a bit different)

I do have the plastic piece that covers the expansion port, and my magnetic head protection disk. I took it out and put it in a bag with some fds games I will never play. My hudson turbo joy pad that I recently found on eBay now occupies the serial port.

I leave it on any system that I receive that hasn't had it removed, mostly for the purpose of historical preservation. Anyhow, in my case, I wouldn't care if the plastic looked horrible, as in the future I can always remove it and showcase a system with no imperfections. Not as if I play on my display-quality systems anyhow: I use the most ragamuffin consoles in routine play and thee ones on my tech bench are even worse-looking, but that because the receive the greatest amount of abuse.

@modeltfordman: Is the protector disk-card from your  Twin one with red or blue print? The twin never had those vinyl sticky-tape protectors on anything, so if you have the clear plastic shell for the EXP port[url], you have the only piece of protective plastic that came on it.

Mine has the blue writing and the expansion port cover from your pic. I was totally thinking of something else.

I don't think I have the film on any of mine.  I'm generally in agreement with L_E_T's opinion - plastic film on stuff that you are actually using (as opposed to keeping for display) makes no sense.  Especially on sofas!
