The 2600 is of course hugely important for historical reasons, but most of the games are so simplistic it becomes difficult for me to play them longer than 5 minutes.

Their is nothing shitty about original Arcade graphics. It is just that people got addicted the imagry. I hope when the Wii2 is released I will see a bunch of people bash that god forsaken piece of crap to the ground, along with the XBOX3 and PS4.

I am going to say it, this is a stupid scale. Saying old is dumb, in terms of media devices. Remember how Sega ported outrun and Space_harrier, to every single system, it made. That is how you should see the stupid download system.

Atari is a game company. Thier is also the Jaguar, 5200, and 2600. Big gap.
The 5200 no matter how powerfull had zero support, along with the JagX.

the NES and SNES are the same company, and the SNES has the heart of the Amiga and the breath of Sony. Both systems could go up against each other, have their strenghts and weaknesses.

The PSX was original meant to be the SNES2 add-on or seperate. So playing PSX is playing a NES but 3d only. They could have done it on the SNES but Nintendo wanted to license games. The PSX is completely out of range with the question you are asking.

Your question looks more like. Which is the best bit level

PS1           = 32bit
NES/FamiCom     =8bit
S-NES         =16bit
Atari         =4bit
Other/None      =24bit / 64bit/ 256bit

Sriously come on now. Between all of those systems the Famicom is the best because, people in China ( where they drag people out of their homes in the middle of the night ) still buys and makes the games, and people in the west are also doing the same thing, along with collectors and loyal players.

The SNES has proven to be a shallow system of prettiness, while fun just shallow.

The PSX is the same thing as the SNES

The Atari is trapped in a land where nobody reads at all

Right, but that doesn't mean people have to enjoy them today. Like L__E__T said, the game are really simple by today's standards, and it's hard to play a game without it getting repetitive after a few minutes. Some games are good for that reason. I could play Surround for hours, but that's an exception.
