Damnnnn, $150 is what the Rockman set is worth!?  Yeah that went up and I'm glad to have scoured for deals now!!

Rockman 1 - $20 on these forums, Hashiriya1, got so lucky on that one!!
Rockman 2 - $18 on these forums, thank you Manuel!!
Rockman 3 - Around $20 from Super Potato in Japan
Rockman 4 - $10 from Manuel again, thank you.
Rockman 5 - Around $15 from Super Potato again
Rockman 6 - $25 from Trader in Akihabara Japan
Rockboard - $12.50 on Ebay, got super lucky on this one

Total = $120.5, not too shabby  ;D  That's $108 without Rockboard.

My advice to anyone trying to complete this, BE PATIENT!!!  You just have to wait on a good deal to pop up.  And if one comes then do not wait on it one second!!  I was originally not going to buy Rockboard at all, but for $12 and change I said what the hell, and went for it.  Do not, I repeat do not buy on Ebay in haste for individual carts.  You'll get raped in price.

This thread is exactly why you have to be patient.  I would have 100% gone for it if I didn't already have them all.

Me too.. but I think these things do fluctuate a bit.

Still.. feel like I missed the boat big time on SNES games..  Though that outrageous high is going to result in a rather immediate fall, I think probably within the next year or two.  The prices can't stay that high forever.

I thought that about SFC games, but in my years collecting I've noticed prices fall a little but rarely a lot.  Games like Rockman 7 were nowhere near the price they are today, but I don't see it dipping much.

Collectors tend to hang on to something even if they've overpaid a lot for it, so you don't see the trend of lower prices, just less for sale which in turn reduces the supply still, keeping prices relatively stable.

I'm still hoping Titlers will fall now the VileTim kit is there (they rose for RGB mods) but that just hasn't happened, it's as if the high price is now established and that's that!

When I started collecting they were $200 brand new - now they're $1000 new and I think that's where they'll stay.

There are some stats tools to look at the prices against inflation over the years, if someone can link some here that would be awesome :)

I originally started collecting hardware, but it's software that has boomed over the years mostly.

If I thrift something here in the Midwest, fine, but I'm not paying collector's prices for anything.
A friend just posted to his Facebook an NES & about 12 games, all CIB, he thrifted.  At the counter, he said a couple picker dudes bickered over it in front of him and left saying 'nobody wants this shit.'
So, scores are possible.

To clarify, that story took place in Yucca, California, not the midwest.

That's not really the same thing as collecting Famicom though. You can't walk into a store in America and find Famicom stuff for sale. Unless you live in Japan you pretty much need the Internet to help you.  :-\

L___E___T

I've found you can't just walk into a Hong Kong store either - prices were double what I'd get from Japanese sellers.

By the way someone was looking for a reasonably priced AV Famicom weren't they?

As this one in this thread is now sold, I would head here:

Why not ask what Rockman games are available while you're there, Senseiman also has great deals, you may get lucky.

He only has Rockman 4 available right now. He sold Rockman 2 before I could get it, and 3 and 5 were two of the first ones to go after he put them up. :(

I'm thinking I should make an all-encompassing WTB thread in case anybody feels generous.

You should still be able to get Rockman 1-6 for about $100. That's really good compared to what the NES versions go for now.

Bob-Bob

That seems to be the case with a lot of Famicom games vs. their NES counterparts.  :P
