Hello,

I've successfully tuned in my Famicom on a LG Flat Screen TV with a good colour picture but there is only static / buzzing noise coming through the channel.

I'm in the UK so using a PAL TV, using a RF cable (no switch)

As you play games, moving from menu to menu the sound does change - so it's clearly emitting sound in some sort.

Any ideas or quick fixes on how I can resolve?

You need another TV that has a support for NTSC. Or just do the AV mod (in fact you only need to pull out the audio from famicom and put in on some speaker, thats only a minimal impact on your famicom).

I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

It will probably won't help, european TVs in most cases cannot handle the NTSC RF signal (the audio part) although they usually do support NTSC composite without problem.

Thanks. I bought a little handheld FM radio but found the same sound interference.
I own two Famicom systems, so I find it highly unlikely it's a hardware issue - my TV tunes into NTSC-J pictures just fine, as explained I get a grainy picture but no clear sound, just a large buzzing noise that changes occasionally when playing games between level/menus

I'd be happy to pay someone, London or UK based to Mod it.

Have you checked the mic in Player II controller?

makster88

Yes. As mentioned I have 2 x FAMICOM consoles and both have the same issue, ok picture but only a buzzing sound on PAL TV.
I have done the following:
- Gold-Plated RF Cable
- Turned Player 2 MIC off on both
- Tried the AM Radio route, I just get the same buzzing noise that the consoles emit
- CH1/2 Switch
- Fine-tuning

Have you tried to get the audio from pin46 of cartridge connector?
