PSX SCPH 1001

what is the parallel port on this model for? ive always wanted to know.  does anyone know what its for?

PS: i will soon be selling a PSX two controllers and all hookups for about $20.00 BIN on ebay
idk about shipping but it wont be that much. (I owe my mom like 40 bucks so i need to sell one)

this is the old PSX right not the PS1 right??? let me know I might be interested in it if the shipping is reasonable lol

yeah its an original big gray boxy one. its an scph 9001 model btw if that matters. neither of the controllers have analog either.

It has two ports, doesn't it? 

The large one can be used with Gamesharks, Pro Action Replay, and some kinds of modchips.  You can do dev stuff through it too, I think (I've heard of modified Action Replay bios's that let you write directly to RAM...very cool stuff). 

The smaller port I only know to be used by the serial link cable (the cable I have is called the "combat cable").  Some games support some mode of dual-console play (Armored Core, and I think one of the Bushido Blade games).  I think this was sort of an early feature that never really caught on.  They may be other uses, too, but I dunno.

i wonder if there was n official use for it tho like sony actually waas makin an add on or somthin.  yeah that little serial port i know what thats for my friends used to set up playstations toether
