N64 question

I remember there being a way where you could do a memory check on your controller pack and delete as necessary but I forget how to bring that menu up. Anyone know how to do it or what I'm talking about for that matter?

You can access the Memory Management screen by pressing and holding
START, then turn ON your Nintendo 64 system. Continue to hold START
until the Memory Management screen appears. This screen allows you to
manage the information on your N64 Controller Pak. You may delete

If I remember right, the memory management system was actually implemented by the game you currently had in. It would vary a bit depending on which game you were using, and non-Controller Pak games wouldn't bring the screen up at all. I figure this is because the N64 was a traditional cart console, so it lacked any built-in firmware like the Playstation had, and had to boot directly off the cart. I think that regardless of the game though, it was always accessed by holding Start when you power on the system.

South Park (only game I know that did this) allowed memory card menu access between stages where it allowed the player to save the state.

I had a ROM when I was like 3 or 4 or something, but it didn't work :(

All it could do was a solid red screen and turkey noises.

I wonder if the devs. did it as a trick?  Red and turkey noises don't fly together in my book..

I think it wasn't emulated properly at the time and the game only got to a red screen. Also turkeys can't really fly.

Oh..well then how do you explain the turkey noises?
