Here is where I'm at with what I'm doing next:

Having this start, I see that this one may end up being even larger than the Rad Racer sprite--this will be done in a series of scenes (somewhat like a comic book I suppose).  It will be Lolo getting harmed by Mario for several scenes in different ways and then Lala coming to Lolo's rescue in the end  :P

[clearly the whole thing will be worked out backwards]

Also note that my modified Rad Racer sprite had been completed and ironed last night and I'll take some photos later today and post them by tonight.

Things that were modified from the original Rad Racer sprite (for those that care/are interested  :P):

-The bump behind the roof was removed (I don't know if that was supposed to be the spoiler or not, but it didn't look right to be so I removed it, and also opted against adding the roof spoiler as I didn't think it would look right with the limitations).

-The area where the roof met the windshield was modified and the blue dots on the A-pillar were removed and everything was shifted over at that point.

-The front end was elongated and shaped more like a real 328 including the gap at the black line.

-There was a dent in the hood of the original sprite that I smoothed out to flow with the rest of the hood.

-The tires were contoured to be more round.

-The wheels were modified to look more like the stock wheels on a real 328 (including a yellow center cap with a black dot in the middle to represent the horse).

-The exhaust pipe sticking out on the original sprite was removed.

-As the actual game has a black background on the sprite, the front spoiler and lower rear black section aren't defined in the cut out, but they were added.

-I added some red and shading beads to the very upper rear section to accent the spoiler lip on the trunk area that is on a real 328 (this also helped to smooth out the boxy issues on the back of the original sprite--this change was added after the progress photo I posted of the rear section).

-I removed some of the odd dark blue shading on the very rear that is seen on the original sprite.

-I removed the euro style side marker light (that didn't look good anyway) and opted against adding any.

-The rear window louvers were modified to look like the louvers on a 328 GTS (for whatever reason, the original sprite has painted B-pillars [like a GTS] and GTB louvers and roof).  You'll see why I did this later without also making the roof black like a GTS.

Here is the finished result with a US quarter at the bottom and another shot of the sprite I worked from (I did not iron this side at all).

I though that perhaps these beads might be magical...(Satoshi, please don't try this with your CV Death sprite  :P).  [Note that I taped cardboard to the back of this to take the shot...I understand that is the only way for the magic to work  ;)]

Until you need to haul something big  :-\  I've driven the Vette with the hatch fully open multiple times--I may sell it eventually to get something larger, but I'll get next to nothing for a '95 C4 unfortunately.

son_ov_hades

Yeah I'm a 4x4 guy myself, but I have a soft spot for old muscle cars. I'd love to have a 71 Mustang Mach 1.

I didn't actually intend for the Vette to be in the shot, but it was locked and I didn't bother to get the keys to move it.  Though since it has been mentioned now, here are a couple shots I already had in photobucket for those that like these cars (I painted it myself with the Ferrari Boxer paint scheme--I got it as a completely stock car, so any modifications were done by me [including stainless long tube headers and full exhaust with a custom x-pipe--cats and resonator are gone).

-- Now back to the bead sprites -- .  I hope some find my next project humorous.  I may post a progress shot later if I get another chance to work on it (it is at about the same point from the last shot right now--I don't expect to spend quite as much blocked time as I did on the 328, so this will be a multi day thing, and I may very well run out of beads, so an order may be in between as well.

\/  Yeah, I didn't want to clutter my thread with car shots, but thought the original set would be entertaining to some.

son_ov_hades

That's sexy. Maybe someone should move these into a post your car thread though.

/\  I've made mention to that in the previous post.

Also, I'd like to know if most people viewing this thread like to see the progress shots (I will take them for myself anyway).  Otherwise, I could stop if they just bulk up the thread (I personally like to see how things come together, so they will keep getting posted unless I see that others think they are unnecessary).

Here is the first (unbordered thus far) frame of the Mario/Lolo comic strip (I plan to do them all together before ironing).  I think most will be shocked when they see the frame that Lala "kills" Mario in  :P (I may be too as I have only seen it in thought).

EDIT::  I added another row to the previous frame and gave it a border...the rest of the new stuff should be obvious  :P (you may notice that every frame border will be a different color as I've started the next one in cheddar [that is NOT the same as yellow   ;D).

My girlfriend has helped some on filling in what will be quite a large black portion on the second frame (I believe there will be six frames  :o --this will be huge).  Since the last progress shot posted, I have lowered Lolo in the first frame to cover the first row of the ground as the characters in the game do (this didn't come to my attention until I did Mario in the second frame).   As usual, everything I've done thus far is a work in progress, so anything can change.  [that is a cartoony bump sticking out of Lolo's head in the second frame as a result of the previous stomping]

EDIT:     OMFG (lolz   ::)) >:(  I just commited what the internet tends to call "EPIC FAIL" -- I finished all the bricks and black in between...then started on a coin to soon realize the scale was off compared to the bricks   :-[ :-[ :-[ Now I'm off to go make the bricks 3x7 as opposed to the 2x7 I had been doing (I don't know how I managed to screw that up).  This will be redoing a large chunk of the 2nd frame, which I calculated will be 3780 beads alone (counting the shared black border of the first and eventual 3rd frame).  This counts the added height over the 1st frame to account for the mistake--the bricks will be lower and higher than they are now).
Thankfully moving beads when they are already on the board is much easier than pulling them out of a bag and fumbling with them.  Also, as my father (a.k.a boss) is out of state for a couple weeks on vacation, I'll have the time to fix screw ups like this (still not happy about it  :-\)

There are still a couple slight changes that may be made to these frames I'm thinking about, but I've finally gotten frame 1 and 2 to an initial stage of completion.  I was afraid I was going to run out of the blue I was using for the bricks, and I am pretty much out.  Black and red are almost gone as well.  Unfortunately I don't see how I'll be able to finish this until I make another order  :-\ I have 4 frames to go...  Let me know how you guys think it is coming along (after all, just these two frames alone are quite a large project).  [I posted it with the disks again for a size reference] ----- I calculated that it is already up to 5201 beads as pictured below.

Blue Protoman

It'll probably be the size of a "It's a Boy!" banner when you finish.

I like the idea of a comic strip, it looks pretty cool. :)
