Nice, Lobdale.  I also love those Konami carts with the big label across the top.  Functional and great looking.

Does anybody have an idea what that hole is for?
You could put it on a string and wear it as a necklace, but that's probably not the reason...

Very nice, MWK! You always find nice pirates.

I'm pretty sure Konami toyed with the idea of including a power LED on their games from Day-One, but never actually did that on any finished game. Other manufacturers did, as the FC lacks a power light, and there were even little devices that went between the console and any game that added a power indicator lamp.  If you put a basic LED on the left-side of the PCB on any game, the light would have shined through the hole easily.

The only other reason would be as a bizarre aesthetic design feature, to distinguish their games from everyone else. Note that some later Konami titles have normal FC shells.  :bomb:

There seems to be little that distinguishes what exactly caused Konami to choose a basic Nintendo cart or one of their special ones--they mixed the two pretty equally throughout the system lifespan.  Their first games were all the "Konami cart," though mid-way through they started to mix them up.  It is definitely the case that all of the "special chip" games are in Konami's own special housings.
