I will do that.
I did find a loose disk today just in case, to complete the set. :)

I got a cheap Dragon Quest IV from Ebay in today for an experiment. I wanted to see if I could put an English rom on it, kind of like a Repro but translating an actual cartridge instead of using a donor. It works!

fredJ

Did you put in an EPROM?

Yup, basically just replaced the Japanese mask rom with a eprom with the US game on it.

I've thought about doing that too, but famicom carts are just too much work to open properly...

Yeah, working the quick grips is a process that is not gentle, but you just have to know how much pressure it usually takes. It definitely takes practice on a few scrap carts at first.
It's not as easy as the youtube tutorials make it out to be (takes more pressure than one would think), so I still only open Famicom carts if I have a real reason to above the common "PCB Pics" Requests. :)
I've never been a fan of using a screwdriver for help, prying the edges carefully still slightly leaves minor but obvious scratch marks of tampering. You just need to get the pressure right so you can pop one side open by hand, after that it's smooth sailing.

Yie-ar Kungfu is one of the best fighting games out there.

I was browsing Yahoo Auctions today and there was a huge lot of gaming stuff.  Not even included in the title but buried in the description was a mention that there were a few games thrown in.  I was pretty shocked when I looked at the photo.  Its a bit grainy but get a load of the CIB stuff being `thrown in`:

Definitely somebody who knows absolutely nothing about games selling it.  Very reasonable buy it now price and shipping.  I should have them early next week sometime!

fredJ

sweet deal, will be looking forward to those games  :)
