Here are the facts.  (And just because I'm a new member, it doesn't make anything that I write any less relevant).

1)  People have the right to make any offer they choose for buying and selling.  If I don't find it at the price I wanted, it's my loss.  And if you can't sell your gimmick at your price, it's your loss.  The market determines what price is fair and what isn't.  Lotus started out by getting into MY thread where I was trying to find Gimmick, and decided to call me rude in the thread for making my offer.    Why?  I don't know, maybe you felt threatened at me possibly finding Gimmick for cheap when you were about to try to hawk yours for $400 on the same forum.  After all, if I happen to get lucky and find something cheap, how could you sell yours a month later for way more?  Do you see how painfully ironic it is that I was called rude by you for offering a price for a game, but you aren't rude for getting into my thread and spewing negativity at me? By posting in my thread and insulting me, you were out of line first. It doesn't really matter if my original post WAS too low of an offer for Gimmick.  It is rude and inconsiderate to go into somebody else's thread and derail it with your opinion when it wasn't asked for.   Yeah I was rude to you.  Because you were first.  It doesn't even matter how much you want to charge or how little I wanted to pay.  But if you want to go there...

2)  Your rudeness aside, if you really want to get petty and talk about facts regarding sales figures (even though it doesn't change my first point whatsoever), why not state the complete facts?  Just using ebay huh?  I've seen these "informed" folks on ebay pay $100 for gimmick REPRO's (clearly stated as such), which are readily available for $45 new.   Very convenient to list the high price point comparison to your sale.  So I guess YAJ doesn't exist when comparing prices?  A CIB Gimmick just ended about 2 or 3 weeks ago on YAJ at around 19000 yen, a whopping $162 under your "gracious" sale offer of $400.  Even throwing shipping and proxy fees, it would probably still be more than $100 less than yours.  There are more.  They get snatched up quickly, but they are there.  Why not factor that into your so called average?  Oh right, you're trying to prove I was out of line and you weren't.  Even without some of these low listings in the last month or two at YAJ, you were still $41 above the average according to Frank.  You gave me shit for offering $100-120 for a loose game that people said went for around $150.  Yeah, that's really worth getting into my thread and giving me shit.  But yours is fine.  Does anybody else smell the bullshit?

Let's recap: You claim I'm a jerk for posting in your thread while you were trying to sell something at above market value:  That is true!  Unless I posted in here to say I wanted your game for $400, I was being a jerk, because that's the thread topic.  However.....I only did it because you were a jerk first for doing the same exact thing to me.  Quite a way to welcome a new member.  And if you aren't honest (or mature or intelligent) enough to admit that, then there's nothing else I can do about it.

garyptaszek

drama queen. why not PM him if you have a problem instead of airing out your dirty laundry in his sale thread. If no-one wants it for $400 then I'm sure his price will change. Don't like the price then don't buy it. From what I've read in alot of the posts in this thread everyone agrees with his pricing accept you.
We'd all like Gimmick for less but thats just not likely to happen... especially on a forum where everyone is a collector. We're lucky to get the deals we do here from each other as we all know what stuff is worth.
Drop your attitude and don't dump on peoples sale threads.

Butthurt politics are butthurt.  I think it comes down more to attitude, Epic's original post started off with 'no offense but' and then made a point, it was a note with an opinion and instead listening you just bit back, so it doesn't bode well.

For what it's worth, $100-120 is too low for loose and $400 is too high for CIB in my opinion, but it's the difference in attitude and way you carry yourselves that people notice and sets you both apart.  In my opinion.  Add to that people kinda know one of you and the other don't and it pretty much explains the general sentiment.

Man, I just don't even know where to go with this.  The "facts" that mikehaggar is spouting are just so much opinionated nonsense.  I reported the post because I think he's just being inflammatory at this point.

I've started and erased several rebuttals to his points, but I think anyone actually paying attention is smart enough to make the right conclusions anyways.

The supposed "shit" I gave him can be easily referenced here:

If you read that and find my posts to be out of line, please by all means feel free to never deal with me.  If you have any questions regarding my hundreds of positive trading experiences, I'm more than happy to reply to PM's for more details.  I'll state upfront that I have 5 positive feedback so far here on FW, 214 positive feedback on NintendoAge, and 253 positive feedback on eBay.  I am 100% on all sites, with not a single negative feedback.

So, if after over 450 positive transactions, there's a concern that I'm actually difficult to deal with in transactions, feel free to let me know why.

Edit to add:  Thanks to those jumping in to defend my thread and its sales policies.  I definitely appreciate the support   :)

Aren't those Gimmick "repros" on eBay just pirates made in the basements or workshops of various (mostly US and Canadian I believe) people?

Might help to try and cut someone a deal. At $400, they might as well buy it off ebay for the same price. The only difference selling here is that the seller will not pay $47 in ebay fees. good for the seller and bad for the buyer.

UglyJoe

"OBO" = Or Best Offer.  He's not fixed at $400.

How exactly is it bad for the buyer if the seller doesn't have to pay ebay fees?

It's bad for the buyer in terms of the saving of fees that isn't split at all.

80s Freak - I thought the $7 was the payapl fee?  $40 being the 10% from eBay?

Buyer pays $400 on ebay or here, what is the difference for buyer?

Also BUMP :)

Yup, that is how I look at it as well.  Either way buyer pays $400, only the seller makes out better here.

If the seller was a buddy of mine or whatever, then I would be happy for him if he or she were to make more money on it, even if it cost me the same amount.  I mean, fellow collector getting a few more bucks or ebay getting a few bucks, where would you prefer your dollars to go?

If I buy an expensive item from eBay, I always offer to deal outside of eBay and through paypal to save the 10% fees.
Of course my offer reflects that, so buyer and seller benefit and eBay get the paypal fees still.

But of course that's against eBay rules. (Not that I care.  ;D eBay has enough money)

It's not against their rules, but they advise against doing those kinds of deals in their policy.  Even if it is against their rules, that means little when they pick and choose which rules and which instances they enforce.  They remove things like famicom converters but leave sellers making a fortune from compiled Dreamcast ROMs on disc, despite several e-mails alerting them to these sellers.  They also don't give a damn about GBA pirates/fakes.

My point is, when their rules get broken but they make money in the meantime, they turn a blind eye, so I have no qualms working with sellers to take discussions off eBay where necessary.  Their fees are so high this is rarely an issue for me and many sellers are happy to work out a mutually better deal.
