Profeta Yoshitake if you can, please provide us with additional pictures of that console, as well as Famicom World with a review of it.

Well, I'm gonna do this, but only later!
Nowadays I'm still too busy with other things!
I'm currently translating an article that I wrote
for the brazilian official Nintendo magazine
this month to publish here in the Famicom World!
In English!

Corisco!
Dynavision 3 destrói!!!!

People, if you want it, I would try to find some
working Dynavisions for trade or sell. Let me know...

I think the one the FW made a review of looks to be really good although it doesn't play castlevania 3 as good but still good clone.

I hear the Sachen Q-Boy is really good. It even plays the Konami VRC6 and VRC7 games like Akumajou Densetsu and Langrange Point

Profeta Yoshitake

Well, all Famiclones that I know do play Akumajou.
None reproduces the special sound effects nicely.
Not even the NES, that is the first bad Famiclone
ever made, IMHO.

Yup, they only looked at a handful of cartridges, saw CHR /A13 and CIRAM /CE lines shorted on them, and assumed ALL games did the same, so they shorted 'em internally making games which use them unplayable. Even the crappiest pirates got that one right ;D.

The NES is...

But I love it!
Wow! I quoted myself!  :P

Gao

I have a Yobo NeoFami that I got in Japan a year ago.  Here's what I think:

Pros:

  • It's really cheap.

  • It has very clean video output.

  • The controllers were definitely better than I expected.

Cons:

  • The sound is imperfect in some games.  For instance, the coins in Mario 3 sounded slightly different, and the melody in Contra is drowned out by the drums and bass.

  • It doesn't work with standard NES controllers.

  • Some games don't work.  Castlevania 3 has been noted, but I also have not been able to get Bionic Commando to work on it.

When I was in Japan, I was just looking for something cheap to play the Famicom carts I had picked up, and this did the job well.  I now use it more than my top loader NES due to the Yobo's much cleaner video.

Yeah, Gao.
I do agree with that!
If I said that NES was the first bad Famiclone,
the Top Loader was a bad Famiclone with
badder graphics... but I love it too!!!  :D

To tell you the truth I wouldn't mind hearing the wrong sounds famiclones make since it'll make the game different in some way that's my opinion.....guess I get tired of hearing the same sounds.

The Famiclones NOAC interpret 50% duty cycle as 25% and 25% as 50% (the duty cycle of the square wave channels) so they sound a little weird. Listen to the SMB theme on a Famiclone and on a real NES side to side and you'll hear the difference.

Diego

the best one for me is Generation Nex, top quality materials

Here in Brazil I played one time with a Famiclone
called Good Boy which was very cool, very
competent! Very RARE!

My preferred Famiclone is the brazillian Dynavision 3!
It has good joysticks and is dual slot! You can play
NES and Famicom without any gadget between
the carts and your console!

Is it me or that zapper gun looks alot like the old Atari's XE Light Gun:P

Anyway I too love to have one of thouse in my collection, where can I get one:D

Sorry to blow your balloon Diego, but the NEX sucks big time. It suffers from all of the cheap Famiclone's problems and even more (like the CHR /A13 and CIRAM /CE thing), it has a lot of design errors, the original controllers suck (though they say the wireless ones are nice), so the damn thing isn't worth your money.

On the contrary, the Dynavision 3... <drools>

You think maybe now in 2007 someone would be able to create a near-perfect Famiclone, but no...

Kevin Horton is getting pretty close with his FPGA NES. Check it out!
