Is all we ever see or seem just a dream within a dream...?

Have you ever had a dream that seemed INTENSELY real ?

and then when you wake up...you just wish you had that dream back...because the dream was better than reality...?

Does this make any sense ?

Just a thought.

Thanks for your time.

I sometimes have dreams where I find something I really want for cheap.  Like, I would find Stadium Events at my local flea market for $5.  Then I wake up shortly thereafter.

Honestly, it's happened enough times that I'm used to it.  I don't feel bad that it was only a dream.  But, what does bother me, is that whenever I do find something I really want for cheap, I feel like I'm going to "wake up" in a few minutes.  It's a really weird sensation.

That's happened to me before too.  Most of the time, I realize it's just a dream, but I remember one time, I dreamt that we were going to Florida for vacation this Summer.  I woke up, went downstairs and asked my mom when we were leaving...

Oh I have the best dreams. I hate waking up sometimes because I want to continue a dream, and so, sometimes I'll try to quickly fall back asleep after waking up so I can continue dreaming. It works most of the time and is rewarding...dreams hit some pleasure center in the brain it seems. The things that happen in my dreams are varied, sometimes very gritty and other times very beautiful, sometimes life-threatening, sometimes about love.

My favorite dreams are the ones where my mind greats grandeur, whether that be in an event or environment. I also enjoy the dreams where what's happening to my physical self in my awakened life is misinterpreted by my dreamt life. For instance, when I was young I had a dream where I had to kill people, kind of like Arnold in The Running Man; the last guy was huge, like Thing from Fantastic Four; he was in this area that looked like a junk yard and I had to walk through a narrow roadway between piles of junk to get to him; and he was in an area that had been cleared out but was surrounded by more junk; the ground in the area was covered by small silver needles; we fought a bit, I tired and collapsed, he grabbed me and got down on one knee and placed me face-up over his other knee; then, he started stabbing me with needles one at a time, like acupuncture but more painful; when I woke up I had that prickly sensation you get when a limb has "fallen asleep" from having its blood supply cut off.

Dreams are very fun...

I have dreams about fighting in a romanticized version of ancient warfare. It's strange.

I do problem solving in my dreams. When I get stuck on a problem, I usually solve it in a dream, and then apply the solution in reality :).
Once I also dreamed that I was watching a movie on TV that doesn't exist in real life. The plot was so good that I quickly wrote it down as soon as I woke up to avoid forgetting it. Too bad I never got to see the ending :'(.

Sometimes I have pretty intense and realistic dreams, but I can't get the hang of lucid dreaming (that is, being aware that you're dreaming and use it to your advantage). I've read some techniques to get lucid dreams - mostly learning to recognize signs that the world around you isn't real. I do recognize unusual stuff that would give it all away, but my "dream-self" doesn't seem to question anything abnormal. One day I'll get a lucid dream :)

We've talked about lucid dreams in a different thread before.  I seem to have lots of them...

Man I keep having those awesome dreams were I go to stores and find real cheap pirate games and other rare stuff and I'm placing them in my back pack and heading home and everything. Then I wake up and my cat is licking my face to reality.....I swear it was so real. I also for some reason had a dream I was watching the Pokemon series finale....hahaha the ending was pretty kewl and felt so real.

Does the series finale have anything to do with Misty? ::) :P

I could probably predict that dream...you get a rare pirate called "Let the Cat Lick my Face 2" go home, play it, wake up, and your cat is licking your face...it's like Famicom games can predict the future..man..

Self-explanatory.  Have you ever had weird dreams?

The one I remember most clearly is this;
One time, I dreamt that I was eating at a McDonald's, alone.  Suddenly, Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly and Drake and Josh walks up to my table, sits down and says "Hi".  And then I wake up.

Oh, fast food dreams.  I wrote about this years ago:

The setting is inside a KFC. I'm there with my imediate family and I'm trying to decide what I want. The menus, however, don't have anything that I want (the menu is huge, btw. Like, it spans three walls). I'm looking for this other menu (like, a value menu or something) but I just can't find it. My family goes ahead and starts ordering. After my brother orders, this steel door on the side of this side wall opens up and steam and smoke is flying out of it. It is immensly lit from the back. Out walks some incarnation of Grimace. He was like the future grimace or something. There were tubes and stuff around him. Sorta like Grimace if he had been assimilated by the borg. At this point I'm just like, "whoa!" and then he's just gone. Instantly. Door closed, smoke cleared. Gone. However, the intensity or wind or something managed to blow this banner from one side of the menu (on that wall) to somewhere else, and it revealed the menu I was looking for.

That's when I woke up.

My dreams tell the future. ;D

I once dreamt about playing a "Mario" game, except it was "pirated" & played much like "Sonic" & was made by Sega.  This was before I even heard of Somari.

Okay, all of that comes true except for being made by Sega. :-\

I once knew I was dreaming & tried hitting my head to wake myself up, but it was hard because I kept missing & it seemed like I had a head outside of my head like a cushion - but I still woke up.
