I just had my first taste of Kidou Senshi Z Gundam: Hot Scramble. And it's not too bad, if fairly simple and repetitive. (But hey, can't expect too much from an '86 release...) Stages play out in two parts: the first half is like a poor man's Space Harrier, and the second half is kind of a simplified version of Thexder.

I played through the Super Bat Puncher demo, then a bit of New Ghostbusters 2, then raced through Streemerz which I absolutely love.  Played and completed it on PC but playing it on real hardware is so much nicer.  Plus the new modes are brilliant, go doctor!  I also played a little Jackie Chan, the excellent Cosmic Epsilon and Battle Kid, which I wasn't too keen on.  Then I played a little Fire N Ice, which was more enjoyable than I expected, I finished World 1 but didn't fancy spending my entire Sunday on laborious puzzles.  Then I played Final Mission for the first time - wow, cleared the first level without dying but it gets pretty hard pretty fast - but what a game!  A new favourite.

I took a little break from the NA NES challenge to test a few FC games that have been laying around for a couple of weeks now: Gekitotsu Yonku Battle (so much fun!), Transformers: Convoy no Nazo, Youkai Douchuuki, and Tokoro-san no Mamoru mo Semeru mo (my first time playing this one).

Oh hell yes. Always loved this game, as well as the music for the final match.

GUN-DEC was the last one I played, beat it on one credit. I'll never get tired of this game.

Played through Akumajou Dracula and beat it.  Still trying to do that one one credit.  I tend to have trouble with Igpr and Frank only, which is exactly what happened on this occasion.  Lost once to Drac then beat him on the second.

Still haven't beaten VS. Castlevania, but I know now it's more than possible if I don't die on Igor and Frank.  Once theyre beaten there's no reason to even get hit if you play it right.

My key to a consistently easy defeat of Igor/Frank is the same as Death: Hold on to that Holy Water for dear life.

I had it but messed up first run - then had to do it with nothing :(

I just tried Great Battle Cyber for the first time. It's not bad.

Nightstar, I'm a bit surprised. I honestly didn't think you played games that weren't platformers. But Gekitotsu Yonku Battle is definitely a good one to make an exception for.

It's crazy, right? Even I enjoy a little bit of variety from time to time... but only a very little bit.

Great Battle Cyber... just by the name, I'm reminded of a Super Famicom game I've played recently, titled "Great Battle Gaiden 2". It's pretty much a Ganbare Goemon imitator featuring SD licensed characters. (I used the Gundam!)

Last Famicom game I played was Spartan X2. It still rules.

Going at some of the kusoge on the great 245/1 cart.

"Mystery of Comvoy" is as bad as they say.  You can't see the projectiles against the backgrounds!

Had my first taste of Daiku no Gen-san 2 this morning. Then, I had a friend over and we played a bit of Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti.

Played "Kill That Respawning Enemy Over and Over Again to Get Health Drops", aka Konami Wai Wai World.

Sounds like a lot of games to me. :)

I played some more Dragon Quest. At level 15 I finally felt comfortable with my strength enough to leave Garai's grave and travel south to the ruined town of Domudora. The monsters outside town are strong but I can handle them if I fly back, rest and restock often. The monsters seems even stronger closer to Melkido, so it looks like this area around Domudora will be my new training grounds until I'm ready to tackle the golem. I managed to defeat a Metal Slime the other day!
