Supposedly Pokkeom Green version has enhancements that are only available when using the Super game Boy 2, can anyone confirm this?

There's a real town in Kansas called Pokemon.

Somehow, I highly doubt that.  I can't imagine it being the only game in the series to have enhancements.  Especially since the GS series was out by then.  I can, however, confirm that if you play Green in an American Super Game Boy 1, it gives you a nice, green "Pocket Monsters" border. :)

This is not true. Japan Green is programming wise, US Blue. If this were true, it would also ring true for US Blue.

Speaking of Pocket Monsters, anyone here import HeartGold or SoulSilver? I recently did from Play-Asia as they conveniently sent me a coupon before I was about to buy it from them ANYWAY.  ;D

I've wrote a short review of it on my blog. Will add to it later but too tired at the moment:

I've got HeartGold on my R4i.  It's my favorite game in the series!  However, since I don't own the game, I don't have the PokeWalker.  How's that?

Also, great review, Satoshi!

I have the Japanese Pokemon Blue and it plays the same as my US Blue on both of my SGBs 1 and 2. I though this was possible since the SGB2 was a Japan only as well as the Green version. I'll just have to buy  Pokemon Green to find out then.

Green was also co-released with Red.  In Japan, the first two versions were Green and Red, as opposed to Red and Blue here.  That's why the remakes for the GBA are FireRed and LeafGreen.  So you could also try it out with Red if you like the color scheme better.

Ok thanks. I wan't sure. What I heard did sound convincing though.

JP Green and Red are US Red and Blue just without the shitton of glitches that make up the English versions. JP Green and US Blue share the same Pokémon locations. If you want the version that wasn't released in the US, you ironicly thus need to look for the Japanese version of Blue.

...Are you sure you have your facts straight, Satoshi?  Maybe I just didn't understand you, but Red and Green are the ones with a multitude of glitches.  Most of which were fixed before Red and Blue came out in the U.S.  Japanese Blue is indeed different from U.S Red and Blue a tiny bit (as far as I know, I don't own it.), but it does share the same maps as U.S Red and Blue.

lol, okay lets get into it then

Originally in Japan there were two versions: Pocket Monsters Red and Green. These games both used the same sprites for the Pokémon and each had a different final dungeon layout for the cave with Mewtwo. These games are less glitchy than any of the others as there is no way to trigger missingno. without a cheat device. In the English versions you can quite easily access it even without doing the Cinnabar trick.

A year later, a special promotional version of the game was released in Japan called Pocket Monsters Blue. Blue had updated, better drawn sprites for the Pokémon, a different mix of Pokémon from both Red and Green, and its own Unknown dungeon layout.

A year later, Nintendo decided to bring the games to America, but did a pretty weird hack job in the conversions. Rather than release Red and Green as they were, they went and made several changes. For the US versions, both US Red and Blue would feature the superior sprites from JP Blue as well as JP Blue's Unknown Dungeon Layout. Then, the games would feature the same monster set from JP Red and Green. This means that US Blue is JP Green with JP Green's graphics and dungeon. This is why the argument of why the US never got Green meaningless; Green = Blue.

A year after that, Yellow was released and translated without change and since then all the sames have been the same in both the US and Japan.

I know for a fact that the Unknown Dungeons of the two are different, and that Green and Blue don't have the same set of sprites.  Japan Green =/= U.S Blue.

A debate it is. :P

hey nintendodork, I don't think you completely read what I wrote. I said "This means that US Blue is JP Green with JP Green's graphics and dungeon. This is why the argument of why the US never got Green meaningless; Green = Blue." Blue isn't Green renamed as Blue, its Green reprogrammed as Blue.

Waiting for the 'Pocket Monsters Red and Green: The Origins'anime to come to America. I've already seen the Japanese one with English subs, but I want it to be localized already!
