Cool. You need to install XBMC, Flash 11.1, Amazon AppStore, YouTube, FireFox and NetFlix.
Ouya makes a fantastic media center.

When's the V2 improved one coming out?

I've got the Amazon Appstore on there already, I haven't done too much with non-game apps yet, but it's definitely coming.

I'm hopefully getting an Ouya in a few days time, and while I appreciate your post there for recommended games, I'm confused as to the HD vs non-HD games.

Doesn't the Ouya ONLY output HDMI, meaning 720p at the bare minimum? How you have a game thats 720p and not considered HD? or are these games like  heavily upscaled 480p or something?

Also, what about emulators? I'm counting on the Ouya to have the power to be a great emulator machine - if the emulators for it are any good to begin with though.

NintendoKing

I consider Non-3D (or upscaled, the worst up scaled is "The Amazing Frog") graphic based games Non-HD. And I have honestly never used any of the emulators but I have heard they are great!

Ouya actually only broadcasts 1080p (on 1080p tv's) but can degrade its output to function on a 720p TV.

If a GGPO app ever gets made for Ouya, I can imagine the retro fighting game community eating this up

That would be cool, only the future will tell though. :)

So I've had mine for a little while now and am really mixed on it. I find I accidentally leave it on all the friggin time.

Most of the emulators aren't any better than my JXD Tablet - in fact, they appear to be exactly the same. The N64 and PS1 emulator is better than on original Xbox, but nowhere near as smooth as I was hoping for.

I'm unusually fond of the controller though. I thought I'd hate it, but for games that really use it well, it's excellent. I just can't get over the fact that throughout the entire process nobody thought to include Start and Select buttons. That seems like such a major blunder that should have been addressed in the earliest phases of design. No start button means devs assign start to the one of the stick clicks, or not at all.

I've been able to use other controllers, but the ouya guide button means the ouya controller can't be taken out of the picture entirely.

Overall, I think the Ouya is problematic but it does do early system emulation well and a few of its own games like DubWars and RushBros. make it promising.

But it seems VERY beta. The emulators need to be more optimized for Ouya specifically. The VLC player app is great, but why can't I do ANYTHING with it? no options, nothing.

Will they even update existing emulators? I mean, will I have to redownload them? It seems so odd they are so haphazardly thrown onto the ouya.

I would guess that's the "system turning itself back on" -bug/feature instead. Some TVs send signals through HDMI that wakes the Ouya up when it's in sleep mode (which is what it is if you turn it off by pressing Y in the main menu and choosing the system to turn off. To really turn the system off, press and hold down the power button on the system for a while. Another solution was posted here: Go to MANAGE > SYSTEM > ADVANCED

Scroll down and select "Developer options". When you enter developer options, at the very top right across from "developer options." Make sure "ON" is selected and not "OFF," so you can change settings in this menu. Now go down to the third option. It should be "STAY AWAKE." Now uncheck this box.

I've seen a few games use the Ouya Guide button as the Start button, bringing you to menus in-game and such. Seems to work fine.

Whenever an application you downloaded through the Discover menu gets updated, you can update it directly from the Play menu. In fact, the application won't even launch until it's been updated. The icon also has a small mark on the upper-right corner to let you know there's an update for it.

NintendoKing

Well the most recent update caused my Ouya to stop producing sounds. :/

Do they not even test these things??

L___E___T, Thankfully the sent a minor repair that fixed it but yea checking for errors should be done more smoothly.

Glad you got that fixed.  I watched Satoshi's I tro to the Ouya last night, I have to admit it's made me want one slightly.

I fully recommend Ouya, it's progressively getting better as days go by.
