Nice. Your Pipe V cart must be vastly superior to the one I had because it sounded AWFUL. The music was barely audible and it had some annoying scratchy noise that played throughout, and made the whole thing unbearable.

I myself played a couple games today, Akumajou Densetsu and Holy Diver. I finally have gotten to the point where I can 1CC Akumajo III, still working on no-deathing it. Holy Diver went well as always.

Akumajo Densetsu beat, no deaths! Trevor-only, also.

I played it a few months back and loved it L___E___T, I have a copy sitting on my shelf! Though admittedly it's been a while since my PS2 have been plugged in. But somewhat related, tonight I did manage to no-death Shinobi III on Genesis.

How you can no death all these runs is beyond me :)

I can no death GG Shinobi, but that's not too hard once you have it down.  I can no damage up to the castle most times I play it.

Oh yeah, I've grown to love G.G. Shinobi I equally to G.G. Shinobi II, those games just complement each other so beautifully - and yes, I can no-death them both as well, I think the first game's difficulty has become a bit overstated. Before I got it I used to read that it was incredibly tough but it just didn't seem that way when I got around to mastering it.

I just had my first taste of Space Shadow. It's decent, but not special as light-gun games go. But it was fun playing with my brand-new (to me, at least) Hyper Shot light gun. That thing is ridiculously awesome.

I just received Mickey Mouse III: Yume Fuusen. And then proceeded to 1CC it on my first try. The balloon mechanics were cool, but woefully underutilized. But after the end credits the Konami code was revealed (though the game's by Kemco) and doing it at the title screen starts up Hard Mode which actually lives up to the name. I had difficulties getting past the first stage and Game Overed without reaching the second boss.

Not sure if I want to tackle that now, got other games to continue. Been also playing the fantranslated version of Maze of Galious and it is fantastic.

Super Mario Bros., which I just got from senseiman.  I expected it to be the same, but its sameness still surprised me.

SMB has that rare power to surprise even though it's so familiar.

Last FC game I played was Baltron. Strange little shooter.
Favorites: Castlevania, Metroid, Namco 18

Just finished The Guardian Legend - entertaining at first, but then it became a bit boring because there's very little challenge except for very few specific situations. There's no point to having 12 different weapons if I don't even need to use them 90% of the time, I did quite fine using just the normal weapon except for maybe four boss fights. The shooter sections are poorly designed - thanks to the large hitbox you're bound to take hits every now and then (constantly in the late game), but enemies drop health and ammo pick-ups at a steady rate, even during boss fights, so it's quite easy most of the time. The graphics are nice, but the enemies and bosses are re-used many, many times, up until the very end.

The concept is fun, and I guess it's the concept what people are thinking of when they praise the game, but the execution needs to be a lot tighter before I'd consider this a classic.
