Waoo, this is really interesting !
UglyJoe, how do you have access to those graphics ? I'd be really interested to dig into game Roms as you did.

UglyJoe

I used Tile Molester to view the tiled graphics:

I arranged them myself in a separate buffer -- it's kinda like putting a jigsaw puzzle together.

Excellent, thanks ! I'll give Tile Molester a shot.
Some developers had to cut corners to make it all work. I wonder if more games (especially arcade conversions) have unused graphics like these ones...

I'm currently having a BLAST on Gun-Nac ! Such a great shooter !!

It is interesting to see how the American version omitted the part of the story with the Miko girl and the summoning of the ship. They cut out most of the ending too...

I beat the chinese Dragon Ball Z 2 pirate fighting game as Gohan!
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

I haven't played my Famicom in such a long time.  Just got in a game of Splatterhouse.  Beat it in about 20 minutes.

I have Splatterhouse on a NES cartridge,
but I have never had the opportunity to have the Famicom one.

Played a few levels from Mega Man 6 on my delicious megaman 6 in 1 pirate.

Seems much harder than the American version... did the Japanese feel Americans were too incompetent and made the game easier for western audiences?

Probably.  It is definitely harder though.
