What is Famicom World?

Famicom World is a website dedicated to the Family Computer and the Famicom Disk System. A small group of Western 8-bit fans wanted to construct the largest English-language database of Famicom-related games, gear and information. Famicom World was officially launched on 08/01/06, but the site was in the works for some months prior to that date. We always are updating the site's pages, so check back frequently.

You can read a brief history of Famicom World: HERE.

Can I play Famicom and FDS games on my NES?

Yes. It's possible to play your Famicom and FDS games on your NES if you use a converter. Famicom games have 60 pins, while the NES requires 72 pins. Using a 60-to-72 pins converter allows you to convert the Famicom cartridges for use on your NES. Visit the Accessories page for more about these converters. You can buy these pins converters on eBay for about $12. To play FDS games, you'll need a converter and the disk system itself.

It's also possible to play your NES games on your Famicom. You just need a converter that does the opposite: converts 72-pin NES games for use on the 60-pin Famicom.
