I played Dragon Scroll, an action/RPG by Konami.

Turns out to be pretty unplayable in Japanese. :( Because you can't understand the hints that explain how to do things. A bit like in Legend of Zelda. If you know how to play, you can beat it easily in Japanese. But you VERY LIKELY will need a guide the first time.

I played Mickey Mouse 3.   After long time break from famicom games !

Got my CIB Samurai Pizza Cats today.

Cleared the game without continues on my first try. I knew beforehand it was easy, but damn. Still, it's kind of neat to think of it as a Ninja Gaiden-lite (with heavy emphasis on the lite part) with the similar story scenes and music. I'm fairly certain the same person is responsible for the music in both.

I see the game has a hidden Hard Mode, should give that at least a glance.

Wow, I've loved this game for many years now and I'm honestly just discovering this now. I'll have to give that a shot then. Congrats on getting SPC, easily in my top 5 FC exclusives.

Today was a good day for me, I mastered a no-death run of a game which, for the longest time, I wasn't even able to 1CC. And I've cleared it three times today using those strats so I'm confident they're reliable. The game is tough nonetheless, some parts get very nerve-wracking.

So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Protoman

JuJu Densetsu and Paaman.

I'm disappointed in both, JuJu(Toki) because it's one-hit-kill system is pretty unfair, it's clear that it's an arcade conversion because it's set to suck quarters out of people, yet not adjusted for home consoles really (with only 4 lives and no continues).

Paaman is good, but the boss battles are random crap. Some boardgame that there's no skill to, just luck. I've tried 7 times so far and not beaten stage 1.

^ I believe they added in a health bar to the NES version of Toki, maybe that'd be more to your liking.

I myself cleared a couple no-death runs this morning, of Ninja Crusaders and Ninja Gaiden I. NG I've no-deathed a million times so it isn't a big deal, but it was a first for Ninja Crusaders so I'm pretty happy about it. Though I attribute it partially to luck since the AI is so out of control in that game.

Lately I've also been trying my absolute best to no-death Ninja Gaiden II, but have failed up to this point. The hitbox on Ryu's sword is so much worse in that game, plus the enemy layouts are much more unforgiving. I would also say the final boss gauntlet is way harder too, but that I've gotten the hang of by now.

Sadly the Hard mode wasn't that interesting, it seems the only difference is that the damage the enemies do is doubled. Sure, it means I wouldn't be able to bruteforce through some of the bosses anymore, but I was hoping for more enemies present in the stage, harder patterns for bosses and things like that.

JuJu is very doable even with one-hit-kills. In fact, I've cleared the game without any deaths.

Since I've been so into the NG games I haven't gotten around to trying it out, but that's disappointing. I'll play it anyway though, I like being forced to learn boss patterns, brute forcing makes me feel dirty.

Still, a small change can go a long way. I believe Choujin Sentai Jetman is absolutely best played on Very Hard mode, and obviously there the only difference is that you die in one hit... which feels like the way it was meant to be played, given the enemy layouts.

Edit: Oh, and I just no-deathed Batman again. Speaking of brute-forcing, I finally have a genuine strategy for the 3rd boss, previously I just spammed Batarangs and hoped for the best.

I've been meaning to start working on Jetman, and one-hit kills is what I'm most comfortable with anyway. Having those in Samurai Pizza Cats could be interesting.

I could probably make a game genie code for that.

No need to trouble yourself on my account, but I'll certainly give Samurai Pizza Cats: Prepare To Die Edition a go if it happens.

A little trickier than most, but I think I got it.  Needs all three codes:

OXXSUPAO
AEXSKPZA
SEXSSPVG

Thanks, works as advertised. Having everything from the smallest bird and falling music note be a serious threat makes the game more interesting indeed, I found myself even using the Ninpo skills during stages, I just spammed those during the bossfights during my normal clear. The stage design comes alive in a whole new way now.

Really a shame this isn't the real Hard mode.

Cool - gonna have to try SPC out with those codes at some point.

As for me I just booted Gimmick! up last night to listen to some 5B tunes and played a couple of levels quickly.  Such a beautiful game, all the little details throughout...
